Did you forget that Tarik Cohen is still a member of the Chicago Bears? That's okay, most of us did too. Cohen suffered a torn ACL on a freak special teams play in Week 3 last season and has been absent ever since. He underwent surgery and the Bears expected him to return at some point in 2021.
As we all know, thus far, Tarik Cohen hasn't returned to football in 2021. Adam Jahns of The Athletic revealed what Matt Nagy had to say about the running back:
Cohen is working hard to get better. He's rehabbing and involved with team meetings as well.
That's great to hear, but it shines very little light on the actual problem. Where is he at in his rehab process? Will we see Tarik Cohen play in 2021? It's still possible, but at this point, it's not worth risking anything else for a dead-end season.
Mathematically, the Bears still have a fighting chance of making the playoffs only to inevitably get rocked in the first round. Bringing Cohen back now would be a seriously questionable decision as his absence hasn't been extremely glaring.
Khalil Herbert and David Montgomery are a fine duo at the running back position. Cohen may still have some value, but he should be utilized as a quick wide receiver instead of a running back. If the Bears decide to bring Tarik Cohen back this year, it might be a good idea to work out where he's even going to play first.
