After the Chicago Bears improved their defense by signing former Raiders linebacker Nicholas Morrow, they lost another former player. Bilal Nichols has signed a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. The deal is for two years and worth $11 million with $9 million guaranteed.
Nichols was one of those players who stepped up big when the Bears faced injuries in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. In 2020, he was the starting nose tackle when Eddie Goldman opted out due to COVID-19. That year he had 40 combined tackles, 13 QB hits, and one interception. Last year, he shifted over to a 3-4 defensive end role, starting 15 of the 17 games he appeared in. He had 51 combined tackles with nine QB hits. At the age of 25, the former fifth-round pick will bring youth and versatility to the Raiders defensive line.
Now, Ryan Poles has another hole to fill. Let’s see what he does with the extra cap room he created last week.
