BREAKING: Khalil Mack to Have Surgery, Done For the Year
Following the news that Danny Trevathan was placed on IR, the Chicago Bears received more bad news on Friday. Khalil Mack is having surgery on his injured foot, knocking him out for the rest of the season.
In wake of the surgery, Mack is heading to IR with Trevathan. Prior to Mack being sidelined, the All-Pro was having an incredible season. In just seven games, Mack tallied six sacks, 19 total tackles, and seven QB hits. It's safe to say that Mack was off to a Pro Bowl-caliber start before the foot injury cut his season short.
Now, the Bears will move forward with Bruce Irvin as the newest pass rusher. The team will rely heavily on players such as Akiem Hicks and Robert Quinn for the rest of the season. At 3-6, the Bears aren't mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but the number of injuries has certainly made the odds less in the Bears' favor.
