Less than an hour removed from news that Teven Jenkins was absent from Thursday's practice, it appears the offensive line has taken another hit. Chicago Bears center and offseason addition Lucas Patrick reportedly left practice with trainer Andre Tucker on Thursday.
Patrick signed a two-year deal with the Bears in the offseason. Prior to signing with the Bears, Patrick spent his whole career in Green Bay with the Packers. In fact, Patrick following new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy to the Bears will ideally benefit young players learning the scheme for the first time. However, seeing the starting center, a key cog for the Bears offensive line, go down with a possible injury is disheartening.
Upon Patrick's exit, rookie center and University of Illinois product Doug Kramer entered in his place. After a wild final day of the NFL Draft, Ryan Poles' stash of late-round lineman may pay off if potential starters continue dropping like flies.
As more information becomes available on Patrick's health, we'll update our readers here.
