The Chicago Bears continue to adjust their roster today and have added a running back. After the news broke that they are going to cut Tarik Cohen, the Bears claimed Darrynton Evans off waivers.
Who is Darrynton Evans?
Darrynton Evans is a running back who spent the last two years with the Tennessee Titans. He's 5-foot-11 and weighs about 200 lbs. Evans played his college football at Appalachian State. In three seasons with the Mountaineers, he took 482 rushing attempts for over 2,800 yards and 25 touchdowns. Of those 25 scores, 18 of them came in 2019 alone. Evans also caught 39 passes for 319 yards and six scores.
The Tennessee Titans drafted him 93rd overall in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In two seasons with the Titans, Evans only played in six games.
Evans only played in 10% or fewer of the Titans' offensive snaps since 2020. He had 16 rushing attempts for 61 yards but didn't find the endzone except for one receiving touchdown in 2020. He caught four of his six targets over two years for 38 yards.
Furthermore, Darrynton Evans played in 24% of the special teams snaps in 2020 and 11% in 2021. Evans took 10 kickoff returns for 223 yards.
