Chicago Bears' cornerback Jaylon Johnson was not very happy on Wednesday. According to his Instagram account, the team fined him for showing up late. The second-year cornerback posted a picture of the letter he received from the team on his Instagram story.
The Bears fined Johnson $2,745.00 for an unexcused tardiness yesterday. As for Johnson, he claims he walked in at 8:16 AM and they still docked him. Gauging the frustration in his tone, it seems the Bears' mandatory clock-in time may be 8:15 AM.
A minute here or there probably should not be worthy of a fine, so this penalty seems a little harsh from the Bears. At the same time, rules are rules and if it's in the CBA, players have to adhere to it.
Bears' head coach Matt Nagy, whose signature is at the bottom of the letter, said he would talk with Johnson about posting the fine notice to social media.
