According to Ian Rapoport on Monday, the Chicago Bears have yet to make a decision on Matt Nagy's future. In fact, the NFL insider reports Nagy is operating under the assumption he is coaching the next two games.

Truthfully, it isn't surprising the Bears are taking this route. As Rapoport indicated and fans are familiar with, the organization does not fire coaches early. It has never been their style and as long as the McCaskeys own the team, that will continue to be their style. This season, more than most, makes this practice disappointing, as the NFL's amended hiring rule allows teams to start interviewing potential coaches earlier if they have moved on from their old coach.

Moving forward, it feels like there is no possible way the Bears can justify keeping Nagy on as head coach. However, these next two weeks are an opportunity for him to find a new job in 2022 and the Bears to hopefully start compiling a list of possible coaches to interview after Week 18 concludes. Otherwise, the Bears will lose out on some strong coaching candidates if they wait too long.
