Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus met with the media today. He informed the media and fans that offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood will miss a minimum of four weeks of play. He was placed on the non-football illness list.

Leatherwood was signed by the Bears on August 31 of this year. He was a first-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021. He started all 17 games for the Raiders last season, but underperformed according to their new regime and was released.

Eberflus said that veteran Michael Schofield will be signed to take Leatherwood's spot. Eberflus went on to say they like where Leatherwood is at and that he expects him to return at some point this season.

Leatherwood has mononucleosis, or mono for short. The disease often causes an enlarged spleen, so this is nothing to mess around with. The Bears will use caution with Leatherwood in the short term.
