As the Chicago Bears enter a new era of their franchise, the coaching staff continues to fill out nicely. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears have requested permission from the Philadelphia Eagles to interview director of player personnel Ian Cunningham. If Cunningham comes to Chicago, he will be in an elevated personnel position.
Cunningham has 14 years of NFL front office experience. The Virginia alum spent time with the Baltimore Ravens from 2008-2016 before joining the Eagles' front office. In Philadelphia, he has served as director of college scouting, assistant director of player personnel, and most recently director of player personnel.
As Rapoport indicates, Cunningham and new GM Ryan Poles have a relationship already. In fact, they were both offensive linemen during their playing days. Now, it looks like the two could team up in Chicago's front office.
The Eagles will have to grant permission for Cunningham's interview. However, given the relationship with Poles, Philadelphia may grant permission and allow these two friends to reunite in the Windy City.
