The Chicago Bears made a roster move early Tuesday morning. As the deadline to trim down their roster nears, the cuts continue to trickle in.
Hardy is the latest subtraction after the team waived three other players on Monday. Given the recent roster decisions, the Bears brass continues to provide their views on the position battle at wide receiver.
Where Does the Roster Stand?
Now, with the four cuts, the Bears have reached the player mark of 85 required by the NFL. Tarik Cohen and Germain Ifedi are not included on the active roster because both players are on the PUP list. Although, the math doesn't add up:
- 85 active
- 4 cut/waived
- 2 PUP list
- 91 in total
It appears there is one player unaccounted for as the NFL does not allow more than 90 players at camp. It's possible that it doesn't account for the Bears recently signing Jason Peters. In that case, the addition of Peters will require a corresponding roster move.
As it stands, it doesn't appear the Bears will have to part ways with any other players today to get down to the NFL's required 85-mark unless the Peters signing forces their hand.
Roster Cut Deadlines
Per NFL rules, here are the deadlines for the Bears to reach the roster requirements:
