At the start of the day, we all sat wondering what the Bears would do with the 87th overall pick. Would it be a running back, a defensive back, a tight end, or an edge rusher?

I will say this, I spent my whole day at work just thinking "Hey, I am totally fine sitting at that pick and taking the best available player." My faith has been slightly restored over time with this team and drafting.

Well, it seems as if Mr. Pace had a master plan all along. Because at around 9:00pm CST we got the call that the Bears made the trade to move up to 73rd overall. This was all in thanks to finding a partner in the New England Patriots.

So, with that pick the Bears went and got one of the running backs that they loved. That man was David Montgomery. Some believe he is just a Howard clone. Others believe he might be a similar style of player to Kareem Hunt.

I posted an article previously about Montgomery. But I will say this, the kid can play. He has the heart and passion. The Bears are looking for young men with good character as well and he will fit right in.

Montgomery doesn't have the greatest speed, but his ability to get loose from tackles and make people miss is scary. I found out another fun little trait about him, he was a high school quarterback. Just wait for the training camp battles between he and Cohen. Those will be very entertaining.

This is a great first pick for the Bears. We have one more day left with a total of four picks remaining. Those are as follows: 126, 205, 222, and 238. Enjoy the final day of the NFL draft on Saturday. Do not forget they will be attacking that undrafted free agent market heavily as well.
