The Chicago Bears officially have a COVID-19 problem. Defensive lineman Eddie Goldman has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Artie Burns and practice squad member Sam Kamara join him.
Goldman opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns regarding COVID-19. This year, he made his return and helped fill in on the Bears' defensive front. It's disappointing this news comes when the Bears' fate has been practically decided. The Bears are most likely out of the playoff picture and Matt Nagy is left for slaughter.
Even worse, Goldman is unvaccinated so he will be under stricter protocols. He is definitely out Monday Night against the Vikings.
Hopefully Goldman can fight off COVID-19 and return healthy for 2022. Fellow defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. is also on the COVID-19 list. Finding a set of replacements will be a challenge.
Bears Next Move
Now that the Bears have multiple COVID-19 cases, they are now in enhanced COVID-19 protocols.
After suffering another loss to the Packers, the Bears have to prepare for the Vikings. All meetings will need to be held virtually. The Vikings' offense will be a good evaluation for the Chicago's defense. The front office may need to make a decision on blowing up the roster and rebuilding following Monday's game.
