Former Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears running back, Marion Barber III, was found dead Wednesday by Frisco police. The police found the 38-year-old in his apartment while conducting a wellness check. They have not yet revealed the cause of death.
Marion Barber III played in the NFL for seven years. Most of his time was spent with the Dallas Cowboys but his final year was with the Chicago Bears.
In 88 games with the Cowboys, Barber III took 1,042 carries for 4,358 rushing yards and 47 touchdowns. He also caught 174 of his 224 targets for 1,280 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
During Marion Barber III's final NFL season, with the Chicago Bears, he recorded 422 rushing yards off 114 carries and six touchdowns.
After his NFL career came to an end, following the 2011 season with the Bears, Barber III went through some struggles in his personal life. He was arrested in 2014 in Mansfield, Texas. Police transported him to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Marion Barber III was also arrested in 2019. He was charged with two counts of criminal mischief from incidents in 2018. Witnesses alleged that Barber III damaged their vehicles while running.
