Former Bears’ linebacker Barkevious Mingo was arrested in Texas this weekend on a charge of indecency with a child-sexual contact.
The law in Texas carries a maximum sentence of 20 years for the crime. Mingo’s attorney said in a statement that they don’t have a lot of information at this time, but calls the allegations “baseless”.
Shortly after discovering the allegations against Barkevious Mingo, the Atlanta Falcons terminated his contract.
Barkevious Mingo has had a tumultuous career. Since being drafted by the Cleveland Browns, Mingo has played for six different teams in total.
Most recently, Mingo spent the 2020 season with the Chicago Bears. He recorded 2.5 sacks and 23 solo tackles in sixteen games.
