On the grand Sunday Night Football stage, Chicago Bears receiver and returner Jakeem Grant ran his name into the record books. Grant's 97-yard punt return touchdown was the longest punt return touchdown in Bears history. The records date back to 1960.
Jakeem Grant channeled his inner Devin Hester on the return. After fielding the punt at the three-yard line, Grant ran right, spun back to his left, and found the sideline en route to the touchdown. At the time, the touchdown gave the Bears a 23-14 lead, which became 24-14 after a converted PAT from Cairo Santos.
Grant's sensational Sunday night has warranted a lot of praise and calls for an extension for the receiver after the season. Grant was acquired from the Miami Dolphins earlier this season. After his performance against the Packers, he certainly warrants consideration. Grant also scored a touchdown on a jet sweep.
Time will tell. However, Jakeem Grant is really making his case to remain in Chicago for at least the 2022 season.
