As the Chicago Bears fill out their coaching staff and the Super Bowl approaches, the news cycle has slowed in early February. However, Lids released its top-selling NFL players jersey in each state this morning, and there is a very interesting name for the state of Wisconsin.
That's right. Justin Fields is not only the top-selling jersey in Illinois, but also in Wisconsin. Packers be damned, Justin Fields is the real King of the North.
It comes as no surprise that Tom Brady dominates a majority of the states nationwide. However, the states NFC North teams reside in are represented by three names: Tom Brady, Adam Thielen, and Justin Fields.
Green Bay Losing Their Touch
Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, Jaire Alexander, and others were no match for Fields. This information is truly surprising given the craze for Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin. Sure, a logical explanation is that Packers fans have all the aforementioned players already, and Fields was new on the scene.
However, your rivals' new franchise quarterback should never dominate jersey sales in your state. If Aaron Rodgers was the top-selling jersey in Illinois, Bears fans would honestly question their fandom. Perhaps the Packers should do the same.
With the Green Bay Packers in cap hell, and Rodgers and Adams possibly on their way out, it's plausible that Fields will truly be the King of the North. The Minnesota Vikings aren't much better than the Bears, the Lions are still rebuilding, and if Green Bay loses as much as they could, they won't be in a position to win either. A few strategic moves from Ryan Poles this offseason, and proper development for Fields in his second year, can take the Bears far in 2022.
Following the Super Bowl, free agency opens on March 15. Until then, the news cycle for the Bears will be quiet. That said, free agency and the NFL Draft will be exciting times for the new Bears regime.
