Lions Sign LB Josh Woods from the Bears' Practice Squad
The Chicago Bears lost some of their linebacking depth on Thursday. According to reports, the Detroit Lions have signed linebacker Josh Woods off the Bears' practice squad.
The third-year linebacker out of Maryland spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons on the Bears' active roster. However, with the addition of linebacker Alec Ogletree, among others, Woods was the odd man out and spent time on the practice squad this season. In his two-year career with Chicago, Woods has 19 total tackles, 12 solo, and a fumble recovery in 25 games.
As Woods moves to Detroit, he is primed for a much better opportunity than the one he was presented in Chicago this season. With reports that the Lions are trying to trade veteran linebacker Jamie Collins, it makes sense to add a young linebacker like Woods.
