On a victory Monday, Bears fans are feeling good and riding high. Then enter head coach Matt Nagy. Leave it to a guy to be a wet blanket and dampen the mood. During his media session on Monday, Matt Nagy cleared up the quarterback situation heading into Week Five, which is weird because not even 24 hours ago, the head coach was non-committal about the starting QB. Nonetheless, it's not what Bears fans or anyone who knows football wants to hear.
Yep, Matt Nagy said he will be turning back to Andy Dalton when the 10-year veteran is deemed healthy. That makes one wonder, why is Nagy so infatuated with Dalton? While Dalton is a nice QB to have on your roster, but after seeing what Justin Fieldsdid on Sunday how can anyone go back to Dalton? Is there an agenda or motive behind not starting Fields?
It almost seems as if Nagy is hellbent on having a quarterback that can run "his" offense and refuses to play the rookie because it would require catering an offense around him. However, based on Nagy's reaction during and after the game, doesn't seem like something he wants to do.
Nonetheless, whether it's this week, or next week, or the week after that, Andy Dalton is going to be back, whether we like it or not.
