The Bears Select OT Zachary Thomas with the 186th Pick in the 2022 NFL Draft
After a day full of movement for first-year GM Ryan Poles, the Bears finally utilized one of their original picks on the third day of the draft. With the 186th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Bears chose OT Zachary Thomas from San Diego State.
Thomas is a big body, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 300 pounds. He played tackle at San Diego State, earning First Team All-Mountain West honors in 2021 and Second Team All-Mountain West honors in 2020. However, given his lack of pop, there is belief that Thomas may slide inside at the next level.

As indicated above, Thomas looks like a perfect depth lineman for Chicago. The offensive line was considered a weak unit in Chicago last season, and Ryan Poles used two of his third day picks to add to that position. Although fellow pick Braxton Jones is more likely to become a starter, Thomas should provide excellent depth for the Bears in 2022.
