The hype around Chicago Bears wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. is real. He has elite speed and the ability to break a game open. However, if Thursday is any indication, the anticipation may have to continue growing. Per reports, Jones Jr. did not practice on Thursday after practicing in a limited capacity on Wednesday.
The Bears passing game featured the likes of Dante Pettis, Equanimious St. Brown, and Byron Pringle. However, the defense was the real show in Sunday's 19-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers. That said, getting Velus Jones Jr. in the act and Darnell Mooney more involved should only elevate the passing game.
In addition, Justin Fields only threw the ball for 120+ yards in Week 1. That'll change when playing conditions aren't a monsoon. However, adding Jones Jr. will also elevate Fields' game with another weapon on the field. Ideally, Jones Jr. will practice Friday and suit up against the Green Bay Packers. However, if Thursday is an indication of the rest of the week, then the Bears and their fans will have to wait another week to see the burner play in the regular season.
