On Friday, former Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Doug Pederson, was spotted on the field at a Chicago Bears training camp practice wearing orange and blue.
Reports thus far indicate Pederson was just at Halas Hall for a friendly visit. It is a little strange though, considering Matt Nagy has hired a few associates in need of a job during his time as Bears head coach. The NFL is an inclusive business and these coaching "trees" do seem to work like a fraternity, so one cannot say hiring old friends is out of the ordinary. It just seems strange that yet another unemployed, trustee of someone Matt Nagy associated with in the past popped up in the middle of Bears camp Friday morning.
Now, Doug Pederson is a bit more decorated than some of Matt Nagy's other coaching hires. He has Super Bowl LII under his belt, but the way his time in Philadelphia ended was ugly to say the least. Sitting your starting quarterback after mishandling your 'franchise quarterback' in a winnable game turned out to be a fireable offense. It's just not a good look having him at practice.
Then I pause and take a look at this picture of Matt Nagy and Doug Pederson embracing each other. The inner Allen Iverson "practice" speech starts to emerge in my mind and I realize it is just practice and they are good friends. In my defense, it did seem like many Bears fans were concerned. For now, we have to wait and see if he shows up to today's practice. Fun fact, he did.
