Four Chicago Blackhawks prospects made the United States national junior team's preliminary roster for the 2022 World Junior Championships on Tuesday.

Forward Landon Slaggert, a member of the Americans' 2021 gold-medal team, joins defensemen Wyatt Kaiser and Connor Kelley and goaltender Drew Commesso.

Slaggert, a sophomore at Notre Dame, has scored four goals and eight points in 13 games this season. During last year's tournament, the 2020 third-round pick skated in all seven games for Team USA but did not record a point.

Kaiser (2020 third-round pick) and Kelley (2021 seventh-round pick) are each sophomores at Minnesota Duluth. Kaiser, a left-handed defenseman, has six points (one goal, five assists) in 12 games this season. Kelley, a righty, has four assists in 11 games.

Commesso (2020 second-round pick) was slated to join Slaggert on last year's Team USA squad, but was unable to because of COVID-19 restrictions within the Boston University program. The sophomore goaltender has a .889 save percentage and 3.11 goals-against average in 14 games.

Team USA's preliminary roster includes four goaltenders, 10 defensemen, and 17 forwards.

The World Juniors tournament begins Dec. 26 and runs through Jan. 5, 2022, in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
