Adam Gaudette's brief stint in Chicago came has come to an end. The Ottawa Senators claimed Gaudette off waivers from the Blackhawks on Saturday.
Chicago originally acquired the 25-year-old forward from the Vancouver Canucks on April 12, 2021. Gaudette initially showed a small offensive flash after joining the Blackhawks last season, recording four points (one goal, three assists) in seven games.
However, Gaudette had a tough time drawing into the Hawks lineup in 2021-22. Despite COVID absences and injuries elsewhere in the forward group, he only saw the ice eight times in 19 games prior to landing on waivers. He recorded two points (one goal, one assist) in those contests.
Overall, Adam Gaudette simply didn't fit into the Blackhawks' plans. He regularly watched from the press box under Jeremy Colliton and continued to do so under interim head coach Derek King.
