Blackhawks: Connor Murphy Exits Early After Big Hit from Alex Ovechkin
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy exited Thursday's game early due to an apparent upper-body injury. Just over 20 seconds into the second period, Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin delivered a big hit that rattled Murphy.
Looking dazed, Murphy was slow to get up but eventually made his way to the Blackhawks' locker room. Following the second period, the team officially ruled Murphy out for the game.

Losing Connor Murphy for an extended period of time would be a major blow to the Hawks' blue line. Entering Thursday, Murphy averaged 22:22 of ice time per game this season, which ranks second among all Chicago skaters. Only fellow defenseman Seth Jones (25:43 ATOI) plays more than Murphy.
