In the second period of last night's 2-1 loss to the Flames, Blackhawks forward Dylan Strome fell awkwardly after colliding with a Calgary defender who had sprawled out in front of him attempting to defend a pass.

Strome went to the locker room and did not return to the game due to the ankle injury he sustained on that play. After the game, head coach Jeremy Colliton stated that he did not know if Strome's injury was a matter of days or weeks yet. Strome did not partake in practice this morning, and Colliton provided a further update on the forward's status afterward.

Though a timeline has not been set, this is yet another tough blow for a Blackhawks team that currently sits seven points out of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Prior to last night's contest, Strome put together a nice stretch of three goals and three assists over a five-game span. He has totaled 30 points (ten goals, 20 assists) on the season, which is tied with Alex DeBrincat for third among team scoring ranks.

Add Dylan Strome to the lengthy Blackhawks injury report, which already includes Brandon Saad, Drake Caggiula, Andrew Shaw, Brent Seabrook, and Calvin de Haan. In Strome's absence, expect Matthew Highmore, who was a healthy scratch against Calgary, to draw back into the lineup tomorrow night.

As for a name that was previously on the aforementioned injury list, Robin Lehner participated in practice for the second straight day, though he did not suit up for last night's contest against the Flames. He suffered a right knee injury in the Blackhawks loss at Vancouver on January 2nd but said he's ready to go after practice today.

An official decision on his status will be made tomorrow before the Blackhawks host the Predators.

UPDATE: Kevin Lankinen, who had been recalled on an emergency basis after Lehner's injury, has been reassigned to the Rockford IceHogs.

While this move likely signals that Lehner will dress on Thursday night, the official update is still yet to come.
