Just days after trading away left wing Brandon Saad, the Blackhawks signed their middle six winger to replace him, inking former Dallas Star Mattias Janmark to a one-year contract.
Janmark's deal is for $2.25 million, fitting perfectly under the Blackhawks current cap structure.
Janmark spent four years in Dallas, compiling 46 goals and 63 assists in 297 games. The winger's best season in Dallas was 2017-18 when he scored 19 goals and added 15 assists.
Janmark will likely slot on the third line during the 2020-21 season, but there is always a chance he moves up and down the lineup over the course of the season. There is no guarantee he returns to his 19 goal scoring form, but Janmark provides solid depth for a Blackhawks team in dire need of it.
Last season, Janmark scored six goals and added 15 assists. Its safe to assume this is General Manager Stan Bowman's way of replacing Brandon Saad.
