The Chicago Blackhawks will be without one mainstay on the blue line and another behind the bench on Tuesday in Columbus. The team announced defenseman Jake McCabe and head athletic trainer Mike Gapski have entered COVID Protocol.
In a corresponding move, the Blackhawks activated defenseman Jakub Galvas from the taxi squad.
Jake McCabe has six points (three goals, three assists) while averaging 20:31 of ice time in 32 games this season. He also ranks second on the team in blocks (75) and penalty kill time on ice (2:41 per game), trailing only Connor Murphy in both categories.
The Blackhawks are now down two defensemen as McCabe joins Erik Gustafsson in COVID Protocol. That opened the door for Jakub Galvas to join the active roster. Galvas has six points (one goal, five assists) in 20 games for the AHL Rockford IceHogs this season. He will make his NHL debut tonight in Columbus.
