It took over 25 and a half games, but it finally happened. Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews scored his first goal of the 2021-22 season on Thursday night against the Montreal Canadiens.
The tally came on a power play at the 13:48 mark of the second period. Parked near the front of the net, Toews tipped in a pass from Seth Jones to light the lamp.
Toews' first goal came on his 46th shot of the season.
It was his first regular-season goal since March 5, 2020.
It was his first goal overall since August 18, 2020, in the playoff bubble against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Needless to say, it's been too damn long.
Entering Thursday, the Blackhawks had the third-lowest goal total in the NHL. For Chicago's sake, hopefully this is just what Jonathan Toews needed to get going.
