The Chicago Blackhawks will have a new face among their defensive group Friday night. Nicolas Beaudin is set to make his 2021-22 NHL season debut against the Winnipeg Jets.

The team recalled Beaudin from the Rockford IceHogs Thursday, a roster move that COVID-19 complications necessitated.

Fellow defenseman Riley Stillman returned from COVID-19 Protocol Tuesday and played Wednesday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. However, he and forward Jujhar Khaira cannot join the Blackhawks when they travel north of the border.

Canada requires a 14-day period between testing positive for COVID-19 and entering the country. While Stillman and Khaira both played Wednesday in Chicago, the recency of their positive tests prevents them from traveling to Winnipeg for the Blackhawks' Friday night tilt vs. the Jets.

The aforementioned factors result in Nicolas Beaudin drawing into the Hawks' lineup for the first time this season. So far in 2021-22, he has three points (all assists) and a -6 rating in five games at the AHL level. The 22-year-old blue-liner played in 19 games for the Blackhawks last season, recording six points (two goals and four assists) and a +1 rating while averaging 13:47 of ice time.
