The Rockford IceHogs are in a new era under the Chicago Blackhawks ownership.
The Blackhawks purchased the IceHogs from the city of Rockford for $11.8 million this past April. The IceHogs also signed a new 15-year lease to the BMO Harris Bank Center. Rockford will host its home opener against the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit Red Wings) on Saturday night.
Fans will see a new of improvements to the arena, including a new center ice logo with the hog head. The IceHogs previously used a red capital R with four feathers from the Blackhawks' logo on the left side and 'ICEHOGS' on the right side. The old logo also had 'OUR TOWN' arched across the top of the blue circle and 'OUR TEAM' arched on the bottom.
The new logo now features the full team name, 'ROCKFORD ICEHOGS' across the top of the circle with 'BMO HARRIS BANK CENTER' across the bottom, each in white text. A black ring surrounds the words and the bank sponsor's logo, which is between BMO and HARRIS.
The neutral zone features two Pepsi and Blackhawks logos, a feature Blackhawks fans and current AEW superstar CM Punk will surely love.
The IceHogs are 2-4 after their six-game road trip to start the season. The team's home opener Saturday is the start of a five-game homestand, highlighted two games against the Chicago Wolves.
