As the 2021 season winds down, the Chicago Blackhawks are adding to the cupboard for the future. On Thursday, the team announced the signing of defenseman Jakub Galvas, a 2017 fifth-round draft pick.
The pact is a two-year entry-level contract that runs through the 2022-23 season and carries an $867,500 cap hit.
Galvas spent the last two seasons playing for Jukurit of the Finnish Elite League, where he posted 26 points (four goals, 22 assists) over 90 games.
The Blackhawks experimented with a plethora of young players this season and will continue to do so over the next few years. Jakub Galvas is just one of the players who will be in the next wave of prospects vying for ice time as the Blackhawks youth movement continues.
