Blackhawks Sign Carl Soderberg to a One-Year Contract
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed 35-year-old center Carl Soderberg to a one-year, $1 million contract.
Soderberg has been in the NHL since 2013, playing for Boston, Colorado, and most recently Arizona last season. The Swedish forward has logged 280 points (103 goals, 177 assists) in 552 regular-season games. There is no doubt Kirby Dach's injury at the World Junior Championships played into the Blackhawks' decision to acquire another center. Soderberg possesses the ability to play up and down the lineup and is solid defensively. Last season, Soderberg had a goals-for% of 55.36 at 5v5, the fifth-best on the Coyotes. He will bring depth and experience to a Blackhawks team that is planning to insert more youth into their lineup in 2021.
