Jakub Pour signing

The Blackhawks announced on Tuesday that they have signed Czech forward Jakub Pour to a two-year entry-level deal. Pour played this past season with HC Plzen, registering career highs in goals and points.

Pour, 22, was teammates with current Blackhawks forward Dominik Kubalik during the 2017-18 season with HC Plzen. In the official press release, Pour notes that he has followed the Blackhawks in great detail ever since his former teammate signed. Now, Pour has the opportunity to become teammates with Kubalik once again in Chicago.

The 6-foot-3, 198-pound forward registered 12 goals and 16 points in 48 games during the 2020-21 campaign. Both totals are career highs for the young forward.

It's uncertain what Pour's role within the Blackhawks organization will be this season, but given the Blackhawks' success with international free agents, it's safe to believe he could see time with the club as soon as this season. However, it is quite realistic that he begins his North American career with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL in order to adapt to the smaller and much faster ice surface.

Pour's contract carries a $842,500 cap hit each of the next two seasons. He will become a free agent following the 2022-23 season.
