The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that forward Brandon Hagel landed on the NHL's COVID-19 Protocol List.

Hagel will miss today's Blackhawks practice due to the designation. The rookie winger played in last night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes, recording one goal, two shots, and one hit in 12:12 of ice time. Hagel has five goals and nine assists through 35 games so far this season. With the team traveling to Nashville for a Saturday matinee contest, there's a possibility the Blackhawks will be without Hagel when they take on the Predators.

The Blackhawks endured a slew of COVID-19 absences earlier in the season but have not experienced any issues since mid-February. Ideally, the team would like to keep the COVID list clear as they had done over the past month and a half. But unlike several previous instances that included multiple names entering the protocol, Hagel is the only Blackhawks player on today's list. The rest of the Blackhawks are in attendance at practice.
