Breaking news swept the Blackhawks landscape on Friday morning as 15-year veteran defenseman Brent Seabrook announced his career is over.

Seabrook wrote a heartfelt statement, first thanking his family, as well as thanking the Blackhawks and fans too. It is truly unfortunate that the long-time Blackhawk will not be able to go out the way he wanted to due to his injuries.

Over the course of his career, Brent Seabrook helped the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cups while supplying countless memorable moments and being a team favorite for 15 years. Seabrook will go down as one of the greatest Blackhawks defensemen in the franchise's history.

In 15 seasons, Brent Seabrook played 1,114 games, scored 103 goals, tallied 361 assists, and had a 111 career plus/minus. Seabrook also averaged 21:56 time on ice while playing 24,442 total minutes in the regular season.

In his postseason career, Seabrook played 123 playoff games, averaging 24:52 TOI in that time. He also added 20 playoff goals, three of the game-winning variety, and 39 assists. It's reasonable to say that Seabrook was one of the most important pieces of what will someday be considered the golden era of Blackhawks hockey.

It is a somber day for Blackhawks fans everywhere. Brent Seabrook was a fan favorite, a warrior, and a true professional both on and off the ice. He will be missed, but he will be forever beloved by Blackhawks fans everywhere.
