Over the last few days, Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Calvin de Haan has not practiced due to lower back soreness. However, there is positive news as head coach Derek King says he will travel with the team and play in one of the next two games.

Beginning on Thursday, December 2, the Blackhawks are on the road for three games. Thursday's matchup features the ageless Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. Following that game, the team will travel to New York City for back-to-back games with the Rangers and Islanders on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Following their game with the Islanders, the Blackhawks return home on Tuesday, December 7 against the Rangers again.

This season, de Haan has appeared in 20 of the team's 21 games so far. Although failing to record a point, de Haan has been a stable defensive partner for Seth Jones on most days for the Blackhawks. In addition, he's averaging a solid 18:16 of ice time on a nightly basis. With the additions of Jake McCabe and Jones this summer, in addition to Connor Murphy's presence, de Haan has been able to focus on defense while not playing monster minutes. He's settling in nicely as the team's fourth defenseman.
