Jonathan Toews will participate in the Chicago Blackhawks' 2021 training camp, starting Thursday at Fifth Third Arena, the team's practice facility.

The Blackhawks announced Wednesday that Toews will be among the 63 players attending the team's training camp. Chicago will have 38 forwards, 18 defensemen and seven goaltenders in camp.

Toews did not play this past season because of Chronic Immune Response Syndrome. In a team video posted on social media on June 30, Toews skated at the team's practice facility. It's not known when he resumed skating or started to skate in Chicago.

Toews last played during the 2019-20 season, when he scored 60 points (18 goals, 42 assists) in 70 games. He scored nine points (five goals, four assists) in nine games during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Blackhawks defeated the Edmonton Oilers in four games in the best-of-5 Stanley Cup Qualifiers then were eliminated in five games by the Vegas Golden Knights in the best-of-7 Western Conference first round.
