Blackhawks Activate Marc-Andre Fleury from COVID-19 Protocol

The veteran goaltender will serve as Chicago's backup Sunday against the Flames behind Arvid Soderblom, who will make his first NHL start.

The Chicago Blackhawks activated goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury from COVID-19 protocol and assigned him to the active roster Sunday. In a corresponding move, the Blackhawks assigned Collin Delia to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Fleury will serve as Chicago's backup goalie Sunday against the Calgary Flames behind Arvid Soderblom, who will make his first NHL start. Kevin Lankinen remains in COVID-19 protocol.

Fleury has a 2.86 goals-against average and .913 save percentage with two shutouts in 20 games during his first season with the Blackhawks.

Soderblom made 15 saves in his NHL debut in the final two periods of the Blackhawks' 6-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on Saturday. He replaced Delia, who allowed three goals on seven shots in his season debut. Delia has a 2.96 GAA and .907 save percentage in nine AHL games this season.

The Blackhawks also recalled forward Josiah Slavin from the taxi squad and assigned forward MacKenzie Entwistle to the taxi squad.

Slavin has one assist in nine NHL games, and eight points (four goals, four assists) in 16 AHL games this season. Entwistle has scored five points (three goals, two assists) in 16 NHL games, and one goal in two AHL games this campaign.
