The Chicago Blackhawks coaching staff is now in place. The team announced Luke Richardson's assistant coaches for the 2022-23 season, and Derek King will remain in the fold.

While introducing Richardson on June 29, general manager Kyle Davidson said the Blackhawks would work with King on his future. Those plans now have clarity as King will remain on the bench in an assistant role.

King took over as interim coach when the Chicago Blackhawks fired Jeremy Colliton after an abysmal start to the 2021-22 season. King logged a 27-33-10 record as the Blackhawks finished seventh in the Central Division.

Results aside, King provided a player-friendly approach as he navigated his first stint behind an NHL bench. In the locker room, it represented a welcome departure from the stoic and stubborn nature of his predecessor.

Kevin Dean, a former Bruins assistant, will join Derek King on Luke Richardson's staff. Jimmy Waite will remain in his role as goaltending coach and Matt Meacham will do the same in the video coach role.
