The Chicago Blackhawks signed Colton Dach to a three-year, entry-level contract with a $870,000 salary cap hit Friday.

Dach scored 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) in 20 WHL games this past season before the Blackhawks selected him in the second round (No. 62 overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft. He scored 49 points (22 goals, 27 assists) in 82 games during two seasons for the Blades.

Saskatoon traded Dach to the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday after the forward's representative requested a trade the day following the NHL draft. The 18-year-old forward will play this coming season for Kelowna. Dach's contract will slide unless he joins the Blackhawks next spring and plays more than 10 NHL games.
