Blackhawks: GM Kyle Davidson to Work with Derek King on Future
On Wednesday morning, the Chicago Blackhawks formally introduced new head coach Luke Richardson to the media. In the opening remarks from general manager Kyle Davidson, he addressed interim head coach Derek King's future.
Based on Davidson's comment, it certainly appears that an offer might be in place for Derek King to return behind the bench at the AHL level. However, the vague nature of Davidson's comment certainly leaves a lot of doors open for the now former interim head coach.
Though his role is unknown, Kyle Davidson reaffirmed their desire to retain King within the organization when asked by the media.

King was well received when he took over the bench last season. The former Rockford IceHogs head coach was received as a player's coach and someone who was easy to play for. Now, his future is in flux but the team seems to have his best interests in mind.
When this conversation between Davidson and King will happen is unknown. However, it feels like there is a good chance that King will remain in the organization. That said, it appears Kyle Davidson truly wants what is best for Derek King. This situation will certainly be something of interest to keep an eye on this summer.
