Goalie help is on the way for Marc-Andre Fleury and the Chicago Blackhawks. The team activated Kevin Lankinen from injured reserve this afternoon.

In a corresponding move, the Blackhawks assigned goaltender Arvid Soderblom to the Rockford IceHogs.

Lankinen has missed the Blackhawks' last 11 games due to a right hand injury. The team placed him on injured reserve on Jan. 23 following his most recent game action against the Minnesota Wild. On the season, Lankinen has a 2-5-4 record, 3.41 goals-against average, and .889 save percentage in 13 games.

Marc-Andre Fleury has manned the Blackhawks' net for 10 of the 11 games since Lankinen went on the shelf. Arvid Soderblom started the outlier of those contests against Columbus on Feb. 17, making 30 stops on 36 shots for a save percentage of .833.

Interim head coach Derek King said he plans to start Fleury on Friday against New Jersey and turn to Kevin Lankinen on Sunday against St. Louis.
