The Chicago Blackhawks won their second game in a row on Sunday night. A significant factor in their victory was the play of recently-recalled Lukas Reichel.
Reichel, playing in his 14th career NHL game, notched a career-high three points on the night, including his first career goal in the National Hockey League. The tally came in the first period to open the scoring.
It was an absolute beauty of a goal from the young Hawks forward. Reichel went on to record two assists during the remainder of the tilt, helping the Blackhawks secure a 4-3 overtime victory over the Calgary Flames.
Reichel has been impressive for the Rockford IceHogs this season and has largely earned an extended look at the NHL level. Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson had this to say about Reichel after the game.
It seems like Reichel might be up to stay a while with the Blackhawks, given Luke Richardson's comments. Since being called up from Rockford, the Blackhawks are 2-0 with Reichel in the lineup. That is also without Patrick Kane, who is still nursing a lower-body injury. Impressive stuff from the young Hawks winger.
