Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves for his 500th career NHL win in the Chicago Blackhawks' 2-0 victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Fleury joins Hockey Hall of Famers Martin Brodeur (691) and Patrick Roy (551) as the only goalies to reach 500 victories in the NHL. Selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins with the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NHL Draft, Fleury is 500-286-82 in 18 seasons.
The Blackhawks acquired Fleury in a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights for forward prospect Mikael Hakkarainen in July. The 36-year-old won the Vezina Trophy as the best goalie in the NHL last season with a 26-10-10 record. He logged career bests in goals-against average (1.98) and save percentage (.928).
Fleury, a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Penguins (2009, 2016, 2017) has one season remaining on a three-year, $21 million contract ($7 million average annual value) he signed July 13, 2018.
