Chicago Blackhawks Commit to Rebuild in Words, Will Action Follow?
On Tuesday afternoon, the Chicago Blackhawks released a statement to their fans regarding the future of the team.
After letting Corey Crawford walk in free agency and trading Brandon Saad, fans suspected it was the start of a teardown. With the statement above, the Blackhawks basically acknowledged that they are in 'rebuild mode'. While that may be the new organizational mindset, they will need to make further moves to fully dive into a true rebuild.
As Satchel Price of the Chicago Sun-Times pointed out in the tweets above, perhaps the team felt it was necessary to send out a forewarning before they make any further big moves. Now that the team has acknowledged that they are rebuilding, it wouldn't be entirely shocking if additional pieces of the Blackhawks' three-Stanley Cup core are shipped out of town in the coming weeks.
