Quick Hitter Preview: Blackhawks vs. Predators

Hawks vs. Predators - 12/18/18

While most of Chicago was lost in the elation of the Bears clinching the NFC North, Sunday was a terrible day on the west side of the city. Not only did the Blackhawks get spanked by the Sharks, but Corey Crawford also exited the game late in the first period and was later diagnosed with a concussion. Colin Delia has been recalled from Rockford as the corresponding roster move to Crawford being placed on injured reserve. That means Cam Ward is expected to be the starting goaltender tonight against Nashville. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM central time.

Three Things

  • The Blackhawks made a couple of roster moves this morning. They loaned Henri Jokiharju to team Finland for the World Junior Championship and activated Gustav Forsling and Artem Anisimov off injured reserve.
  • Nashville will be playing in the second of back-to-back road games. They lost in overtime at Ottawa last night by a score of 4-3. Starting goaltender Pekka Rinne was pulled after allowing three goals in the first period, but he is expected to start again tonight.
  • The last time these two teams met on December 1st, Duncan Keith was ejected for retaliating after being crushed into the boards by Miikka Salomaki. It will be interesting to see if any bad blood spills over into this contest.

Laugh It Off

The Predators yellow primary home jerseys are among the worst in the league. I know they will be wearing white on the road tonight, but even seeing their logo reminds me of this scene from Trailer Park Boys. Let's go Hawks. Beat the mustard tigers.
