Rockford IceHogs to Play Grand Rapids Griffins in 2021 Home Opener

The IceHogs will also play in home openers of the Griffins and Chicago Wolves on back-to-back nights.

The Rockford IceHogs, the Chicago Blackhawks' AHL affiliate, announced Wednesday they will play their 2021-22 regular season home opener against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday, Nov. 6.

The IceHogs' home opener is later in the schedule since the team's arena, the BMO Harris Bank Center, is undergoing renovations. According to Rockford's CBS TV station WIFR, a new ice floor was installed earlier this month and is expected to be completed by the home opener. Hand rails for the 200 level, elevator upgrades, and premium seating in the old press box are also being completed.

The IceHogs will also play in home openers on back-to-back nights against Central Division rivals. Rockford will visit the Griffins on Friday, Oct. 15 at Van Andel Arena then the Chicago Wolves on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
