Rockford IceHogs Sweep Texas Stars Advancing To Division Semifinals
Dylan McLaughlin scored 56 seconds into overtime for the Rockford IceHogs. They defeated the Texas Stars 1-0 in Game 2 to sweep their first-round series in the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs on Friday.
McLaughlin's wrist shot from the left face-off circle went past Matt Murray, who was screened by Rockford forward Cam Morrison. Defensemen Isaak Phillips and Ian Mitchell assisted on the goal.
Arvid Soderblom made 36 saves for the IceHogs, who will play the Chicago Wolves in a best-of-five series for the Central Division Semifinals. The Wolves were the AHL regular-season champions with 110 points.

It is the first playoff series victory for Rockford since 2018, when the IceHogs swept the Wolves and Manitoba Moose in the first two rounds.
In Game 1 on Wednesday, Soderblom made 33 saves in a 2-1 win. Carson Gicewicz and Lukas Reichel each scored for Rockford. Morrison, Phillips and forwards Michal Teply and D.J. Busdeker each tallied an assist.
Fredrik Karlstrom scored and Murray made 28 saves for Texas.
