Following a tough loss to the New York Rangers at home on Tuesday, and a nasty hit to Jujhar Khaira, the Chicago Blackhawks made a number of roster moves on Wednesday. The team sent down defensemen Ian Mitchell and Wyatt Kalynuk and recalled forwards Mike Hardman and Philipp Kurashev.
Mitchell and Kalynuk played fairly well on Tuesday night. Mitchell played an impressive 18:17 of ice time, despite being a -4. However, Kalynuk was shielded and only saw 14:11 of ice time against the Rangers after his call-up on Tuesday morning. However, Hardman and Kurashev return to add depth at the forward spots.
In addition, this move likely means Connor Murphy and Jake McCabe will return to the lineup as the team heads to Canada. Both players skated on Tuesday before the team's tilt with New York.
Don't let the MacKenzie Entwistle news go unnoticed either. Entwistle was playing really well for the Blackhawks before his ankle injury sidelined him. Although he only has three points (two goals, one assist) in 12 games this season, he tallied a goal and an assist in two of his last three games before the injury. He feels like an excellent candidate to jumpstart the team's depth scoring when he eventually returns.
