Blackhawks' Prospect Wyatt Kaiser's 2-Goal Game Keeps USA Rolling at World Juniors

The Minnesota-Duluth defenseman found the back of the net twice on seven shots in the Americans' 7-0 rout of Austria.

Team USA scored early and often Saturday to breeze past Austria at the 2022 World Juniors. The Americans lit the lamp seven times to record their third win of the tournament. Chicago Blackhawks' prospect Wyatt Kaiser potted two goals in Team USA's 7-0 victory.

Kaiser peppered the net early with six shots on goal in the first period. The Blackhawks' 2020 third-round pick got a puck through from the point to open the scoring just 54 seconds into the game.

After Matthew Coronato doubled Team USA's lead, Kaiser struck again to make it 3-0. The Minnesota-Duluth defenseman flicked a wrist shot from the left point to record his second goal of the contest.

Wyatt Kaiser finished the game with two goals on seven shots and a +3 rating in 16:22 of ice time. He was named Team USA's player of the game.

Fellow Blackhawks' prospect Dominic James appeared to score his first goal of the 2022 World Juniors with a shorthanded tally in the second period, but the play was ruled offside after Austria's challenge. He finished the game with one shot and two penalty minutes in 15:52 of ice time.

Landon Slaggert, also a Hawks' 2020 third-round draft pick, had two shots in 12:18 of ice time.

The trio of Chicago Blackhawks’ prospects will be back in action Sunday when Team USA faces Sweden. It will be the Americans' toughest test to date at the 2022 World Juniors as the Swedes are also undefeated (2-0, six points). Puck drop is at 9 PM CT and the game will air on NHL Network.
